"Project Rachel was founded in 1984 by the Catholic Social Services and the Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Vicki Thorn is credited with starting this ministry."

Nova Scotians United for Life, a pro-life educational group based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, noted Project Rachel on the internet in 1997. We realized that our educational efforts regarding abortion were naturally focused on the death of the unborn baby but this was not the full picture!  In many cases, the woman's (and man's) soul was severely damaged by this life-changing choice. 

The Archdiocese of Halifax gave their approval to Nova Scotians United for Life to start the Project Rachel healing ministry in this area of Canada.

Several interested women met and prayed for 3 ½ years! We had our first support group with 6 PR women in 2001.  (During the summer of 2005, we even journeyed with one woman who was in Halifax taking a summer course and it was not her intention to seek healing till she found our brochure "I am Forgiven.")

This post-abortion ministry is anchored in Forgiveness and is open to all those who are suffering from an abortion choice irregardless of their denomination.
